Simon Cowell just left the X- factor finalists in shock when he announced that EIGHT of them were going to be going home tonight.
It comes after bosses made a huge u-turn on the big twist that they had planned for the live shows this weekend.
During Sunday night’s show, host Dermot O’Leary had announced that FOUR would leave the competition this weekend. It it looks like ITV bosses have rethought that idea – as it is claimed that Simon wants to allow the public to have more time to get behind their favourites added that “producers want to give them more time to shine”
“Simon thinks it’s unfair to cut the numbers so drastically when contestants are doing so well.”
But as the show began tonight, Dermot asked Simon about his change of mind, and the music mogul shocked fans and contestants by saying that he was actually going to send eight contestants home tonight.
But you can breathe a sigh of relief, as he was just telling porkies.
As with the previous weeks, just one contestant will go home tonight and we’ll say goodbye to another one tomorrow.
The groups and the overs are going head-to-head tonight, when the theme is George Michael.
This week, the contestants are fighting not only to stay in the competition, but also to win the weekend prize of opening for Little Mix in front of 20,000 people in Manchester.
The music mogul revealed ahead of the new series that relevance and success are key to him staying on as a judge alongside Louis Walsh, Nicole Scherzinger and Sharon Osbourne.
This comes as Nicole has unleashed her fighting talk at fellow judge, Louis, 65, accusing him of “lying”.
The popstar, 39, swiped: “Louis doesn’t mean any business, don’t listen to him!
“He’s all talk. He wants to set everyone through, he doesn’t want to send anyone home. He always says he means business but he doesn’t at all, he’s lying,” she insisted.
When asked where he sees himself in five years time, the 57-year-old candidly said: “Number one, you have to stay happy.
“Number two, relevant. If you achieve those two things and success then you’re in a good place because this business is tough.
